The Anatomy of the Spine
Degenerative Disc Diseases
Degenerative disc and bone diseases or trauma related injuries can apply pressure on the spinal cord (Spinal Compression) and nerve roots (Pinched Nerves), located in a tubular channel (Spinal Canal) that runs up the spine. If in the neck (cervical spine), this causes numbness, weakness, or pain in the neck, shoulders, and/or arms. If in the lower back (lumbar spine), this causes numbness, weakness, or pain in the lower back, buttocks, and/or legs.
